A stunning picture of one of the most beautiful birds of Africa. And what a detail in the crown. Superb!

Very nice and warm colors. Beautiful bird! Great picture.

beautiful light on the beautiful bird. And superbly scanned... in a drum? did you scan this yourself?
Danibabi on Wed 11 Jan 2006, 14:47
I scanned this picture (and the others in the Tanzanian gallery: http://www.pbase.com/dophoto/tanzania_1998 ) with a Nikon Coolscan IV ED at 2900 pixels of resolution and then I retouched it with PS CS2 and Neat Image. Daniele

the art of scanning... It is probably just a matter of not doing it wrong (like everything in the world). Just curiosity: how long does it take you to neat one slide up like this?
Danibabi on Wed 11 Jan 2006, 15:39
What do you mean with "neat one slide like this"? Dust and scraps are eliminated directly by the Coolscan software ... Neat image eliminate the grain (like digital noise). Time for scanning: about 1 minute. Post processing: about 2 minutes. Daniele

well daniele , my english is not that good, you answered what I wanted to know. It's just that there are a few scanned slides here on birdpix, but only a very few which are scanned nearly as good as this. thanks for your explanation, and more so for the picture. it looks fresh and clear. peter

Indeed a great scan, but I think the quality lies more in the picture itself. Great shot.
