Shot from my home office window. I spend over a week trying to shoot them in flight, and then - all of a sudden - this male sat down in a tree just meters away from me. As I was shooting against the light, I got the pop-up to provide the needed fill-in. Scientific name: Sephanoides sephaniodes

These very adaptable birds are popularly called "Pato yeco", and can be found all along the Chilean coast, from Arica (tropical - desert) in the north to Tierra del Fuego (sub antarctic) in the South. 
Habitat: both salt and sweet water, warm and cold, coastal areas, rivers, lakes and swamps. Scientific name: Phalacrocorax brasilianus

These little birds are almost impossible to capture in flight, especially with a long lens. They are incredibly quick and only 10 cm. in size. This one, supposedly a male, sat down in the hedge long enough for me to get a couple of frames. Scientific name: Sephanoides sephaniodes
