I'm using the Canon 70D since a couple of months and I'm very happy with it. It works great, also for bird photography. Ofcourse you need a good lense too.

I have the 7D since the beginning (and the 7DII almost 2 years also).
The sensor of the 7DII seems to be comparable to the 70D, but the AF of the old 7D is better.
If you can buy one at a low price, it is still a good camera.
When there is enough light, at ISO 400, you won't see any difference.
As you can read everywhere, the sensor of the 80D seems to be a breakthrough in the Canon world, if (low light) image quality is for you more important than (AF) speed, I would consider this one.
