Hoi,
Ik ben door een aantal birdpixers gevraagd om wat meer informatie te geven over het reizen naar de Wolga Delta. Dit is het programma wat wordt aangeboden door de organisatie die het beheer van de natuurparken in Rusland in handen hebben.
Ik ben vorige week met de russische directeur van deze stichting naar reisorganisaties in Nederland en Belgie geweest (resp. Eco Tourist Services en Tierra), die deze reis en andere russische bestemmingen (zoals het fantastische Kamchatka met zijn vele beren en Steller's Zeearenden) in 2006 in hun programma zullen opnemen.
Mocht je in de 2005 willen gaan moet je een groep hebben van minimaal 4 man en maximaal 8 man. Volgens de onderstaande reisbeschrijving ben je 5 dagen in het gebied (maar 3 1/2 dag echt vogels kijken) maar het is wel met een aantal dagen te verlengen (en dat kost weinig extra).
De beste periode om er heen te gaan is mei/juni/augustus/september. In juli kan het niet omdat er dan te veel muggen zijn.
De prijs voor het onderstaande programma is 352 euro bij een groep van 8 personen en 415 euro voor 4 personen, maar dit is exclusief de vliegreis naar Moskow en de binnenlandse vlucht. De binnenlandse vlucht kost 220 euro.
DAY 1 Arrival to Astrakhan, meeting at the airport. Transfer to Obzhorovsky cordon of the Astrakhansky biosphere reserve (100 km, 2 hours). On the way – excursion. Acquaintance with vegetation and animals of the steppe landscapes, and with the local inhabitants way of life. Accommodation at a cordon guest house.
Day 2 Boat excursion down the Volga River channels. The water rout passes through reeds of channels and crosses the avandelta’s space. Survey the colonies of egrets and shags (up to 10 thousand birds at the same time). The splendid panorama of the Volga River avandelta (up to 5 km width). Observe the numerous colonies of birds (grate white heron, little egret, intermediate egret, sqaucco heron, gray heron, whooper swan, mute swan, Dalmatian pelican, shag, gray goose, great crested grebe, different gulls, etc.). About 260 birds’ species.
Day 3 Excursion to birds’ feeding places (spits). Survey the birds from the shelter: little egret, Egyptian heron, squacco heron, Dalmatian pelican, and whooper swan. Visit the forests of the Caspian lotuses. On return to the cordon fishing from the boat (sazan).
Day 4 Excursion to the distant islands at the coastal waters. The rout goes to nesting places of the white-tailed eagle (9 nests) and to the colony of muskrats. Survey the birds and muskrats huts. Observe different birds of prey species – sparrow hawk, red-footed falcon, etc. Walking or boat excursion for observing the wild boars and foxes
Day 5 Transfer from Obzhorovsky cordon to Astrakhan. Departure to Moscow.
