nikon d200 + af-s300 + TC1,4 or canon 40D + EF 300 IS +TC1,4

Hello There.
I think it's not such a lucky comparison. First of all because of the IS.
A better comparisson is the 400L F5.6 Canon compared to 300 + 1.4 Nikon.
I'll explain this.
(Nikon cropfactor) 1,5 * 300 * 1,4 = 630 mm
(Canon cropfactor) 1,6 * 400 = 640 mm

Both are without IS and I suppose the Canon combination is much faster and sharper.
On the other hand... The D200 is a great camera with very good software attached.

(I'm not sure, but my hunch is, that the IS slowes the AF)

why not to buy the nikon D300 ,the best in this moment you get evrything in one time .
