There were quite a few Baltimore Orioles at the water hole. Most of them were young. I'm glad to see that this produced a lot of offspring. Scientific name: Icterus galbula

In the U.S., White-winged Doves are located primarily in Texas and along the Mexican border in the southwest portion of the U.S. They're difficult of photograph because they never seem to go the same place twice. Their eyes are one of the prettiest out there. Scientific name: Zenaida asiatica

This is a male Pyrrhuloxia. It is primarily a "Mexican Bird." In the U.S. Pyrrhuloxias are found only along the Mexican border in the states of Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. Some call the Pyrrhuloxia a "Mexican Cardinal." That is somewhat true because Cardinals and Pyrrhuloxias are cousins. The male Pyrrhuloxia is a strikingly beautiful bird. This is a male Pyrrhuloxia. They are primarily a Mexican bird and exist in the U.S. along the border in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. Texas is one of the few states Painted Buntings migrate to in the Spring. The southeast portion of the US have Painted Buntings that reside there the year round. They look just a bit different than the P.B.s that are in Texas. Scientific name: Passerina ciris

Female Northern Cardinals are sometimes overlooked for the brighter counterparts. They are still very attractive birds. A little known fact is that the Cardinals in South Texas are a subspecies of Northern Cardinals in the northern portion of the U.S. The male Cardinals in Texas are a brighter red and the female has more red in her feathers. Both the male and female have a larger crest. Scientific name: Cardinalis cardinalis

Was deleting old images and found this one. Roadrunners are interesting birds. Whenever they show up, everything scatters. They're aggressive and will eat about anything. Scientific name: Geococcyx californianus

It's generally difficult to get a clean image of a STF because they usually land on fences and power lines. This is a male. You can tell that because the males have much longer tails. In the US, they are primarily in the states of Texas and Oklahoma. Scientific name: Tyrannus forficatus

Dit is een mannelijke noordelijke kardinaal en een mannelijke pyrrhuloxia. Het is altijd leuk om twee vogels in een lijst te krijgen. Vooral als ze het oneens zijn. Scientific name: Cardinalis cardinalis

Een onvolwassen mannetje en een vrouwtje Painted Bunting lijken op elkaar. Deze begint een beetje rood en blauw op het lichaam te krijgen, dus het kan een onvolwassen mannetje zijn. Het zal een paar weken duren om het zeker te weten. Scientific name: Passerina ciris

In de Verenigde Staten zijn langsnavelende Thrashers alleen in Zuid-Texas gevestigd. Ze brengen het grootste deel van hun tijd op de grond door op zoek naar voedsel, dus het is altijd leuk om ze op een zitstok te krijgen. Scientific name: Toxostoma longirostre
