Taken at refuse dump while Kites were competing for offals, performing terrific fights in flight. I decided to frame them vertically to avoid the risk they wouldn't fit when in a such position and to create a more dynamic composition. Scientific name: Milvus milvus

12th observation in Italy, found by other birders on a mountain (1300 meters above sea level). The bird was very tame, I had just to fix a perch on the ground to take him away from a busy background made by its favourite bush! Scientific name: Tarsiger cyanurus
Dutch name: Blauwstaart

After having failed in taking pictures of gulls (because of disturbance created by fishermen) I spent my time with some wagtails (white and grey) that used to feed on insects on the sand close to my car. Scientific name: Motacilla cinerea

Horned Grebe is not common at all in Scotland, Cairngorms National Park holds a few breeding pairs. This subject had the habit of following regularly the perimeter of the loch to feed; so I had just to chose a place well covered by vegetation and wait for the Grebe coming back for a new lap. Scientific name: Podiceps auritus
Dutch name: Kuifduiker
English name: Horned Grebe
Place: Cairngorms, Scotland (UK)

This photo is the result of long preparation. In April 2011, inspecting a valley to check the presence of Short-toed Eagle, I noticed that two immature Peregrines used to hang out at the area to hunt for migrant passerines.
I thought I could get the same opportunity the following year. So, in autumn, I went back there to make some improvement works. The part of the ruin where the birds used to perch was not suitable from a photographic point of view because it hid a portion of the bird. I decided to create a more airy perch that allowed the birds to perch freely and comfortably. After having found a dead branch of Aleppo Pine, I carried it on the ruin and fixed it using some boulders. Perhaps the branch is not the most photogenic, but unfortunately there was not any better.
For those interested in moulting strategies, renewed 'blue' feathers are well visible here as they contrast with old brown ones (scapulars, coverts, secondaries and at least 2 primaries). Scientific name: Falco peregrinus
Dutch name: Slechtvalk
English name: Peregrine Falcon
Place: Cilento National Park - Italy
