This spring we had successful Capercaillie project. It was great to see how different males(I found 4 of them in one area) defend his breeding territories.
I was sitting on ’’the border’’ and two males was next to my left and right hand side presenting with their great style!

After over 30 trips to Kerkini I am still exited to see and photograph the pelicans :)

As early as the beginning of March these 'sun birds' appear along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, heading confidently north. Come April they are everywhere, fluttering like huge colourful butterflies. Thousands go on north, but a significant part stay here. The limited use of agricultural chemicals in Bulgaria means there is a variety of insects, which provide the staple food of the Hoopoe's diet.

Masked Shrike are bush-relevant birds and most of the time thay prefer to land in the shade.
To get this shot i follow the classic strategy - I spent time to watch this male and found his favorite hunting perch. Lucky me, the perch was this beutiful Verbascum.
