They are among the smallest of birds measuring 5 cm. They can hover in mid-air by rapidly flapping their wings 12–90 times per second.They can also fly backwards, and are the only group of birds able to do so. So beautifull and fast like the wind. It took me quite some time to get this one. Scientific name: Selasphorus calliope

Tijdens onze rondreis door Canada/BC kwam ik deze grappige kolibries tegen. Enorm moeilijk om deze vliegensvlugge vogeltjes op de plaat te zetten, maar over deze foto ben ik wel heel erg tevreden. Scientific name: Selasphorus calliope
