Hi to everybody,

I am going to buy a new spotting scope & would like to have suggestions among:

* Zeiss Diascope 85 T*FL

* Leica Televid 77 APO

* Swarovski ATS/STS 80 HD

Zeiss Diascope is the cheaper, though it seems the best too... do you agree? If not, why?

Thanks to everybody for answering!

Swarovski it would be for me, but perhaps you can place this question at www.digiscooppix.nl. Lots of digiscopers are walking at that site.

I think you will find the answer soon enough if you google for some test reports on both scopes. I'm sure there are even tests comparing them to each other. I own the Swarovski ATS80 HD and I'm extremely satisfied with it !! The Leica is nog comparison to the other two by the way.

Hello,

Big advantage of the zeis, the enormous field of view. But which one is better....
Like said before, the leica is no match. Zeis or swarovski depends from your personal preference. Test them! And very important but practically always underestimated, test with several oculairs! Even the swarovski zoom doesn't have a constant quality!
At least,
I think you forgot to mention one scope,
The pentax PF 80 ED with of course the SMC zoom oculair. Maybe the best zoom in the world. 20mm eye relief over the whole range. (very important if you want to digiscope, at 55-60x maybe less comfortable)
Compare a good swaro setup with a good pentax setup and see the difference! Especially the higher magnifications.
Very big advantage of the pentax; cheap and the universal 1,25" oculair fitting. With the money you save on the swaro you can buy a XW20 or XW30 wide view oculair. And believe me, there is no better!
And don't forget a super solid tripod with fluid head. Without that the breathtaking view of the pentax at 40x is worthless.
Succes with your choice!
